NIKKIA ELLIS & Paola Valencia

Domestic Violence Crisis Center

Nikkia Ellis (she/her) studied Sociology and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Richmond where she discovered her passion for working with domestic violence victims through a family violence course. She has worked closely with DVCC for over four years, first as a volunteer in the safe houses and counseling department, and then joining the staff as a Prevention Educator in 2018. Her favorite part of the job is being able to interact with children of all ages and believes very strongly that domestic violence can be eliminated in the future by teaching the next generation healthy interpersonal skills.

Paola Valencia (she/her) is the Bilingual Advocacy Navigator at DVCC where she helps with supporting clients in crises, translations, connecting clients to the appropriate services, and assisting clients to find their safety goals. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Sciences and a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality studies. Paola is currently enrolled in a master’s program in Strategic Human Resource Management at Sacred Heart University.
