Family Centers is a private, nonprofit organization offering education, health and human services to children, adults and families in Fairfield County. More than 225 professionals and hundreds of trained volunteers work together to provide our communities with a wide range of responsive and innovative services.  Our multi-faceted network of health, education and human service programs give individuals and families the tools needed to establish a strong educational foundation, overcome complex and critical problems, carry on healthy productive lives and achieve personal improvement.


Presenter: El Makovoz (they/them) is a senior at Stamford High School, as well as an activist in a variety of LGBTQ student groups.

Kids in Crisis Lighthouse Program

The Kids In Crisis Lighthouse Program is a peer-to-peer support group for LGBTQ youth and their allies. In their weekly meetings, currently being held on Tuesday nights from 5:00 - 7:00pm in Scalzi Park in Stamford or in bad weather at the Avon Theater , adult facilitators practice the "power of listening" where youth are encouraged to be themselves without fear of judgement or recrimination. All youth, ages 11 - 19 are welcome to attend. A complimentary supper is served and no reservations are necessary. For more information contact Joe Belisle at lighthouse@kidsincrisis.org. Triangle Community Center

Triangle Community Center (TCC) is Fairfield County's leading provider of programming and resources to nurture growth and connection within the LGBTQ community. TCC is home to more than two dozen, free groups that meet weekly, bi-weekly or monthly at the center. Groups include peer support, youth groups etc. TCC's team of highly trained client advocates assist community members with social service navigation, food, drop-in services, document updates, healthcare navigation and housing navigation at its Drop-In Center in Norwalk.

GLSEN supports teachers to create a better world for LGBTQ students. We empower students to affect change by supporting student-led efforts to positively impact their own schools and local communities, and have thousands of registered GSAs nationwide. Every day GLSEN works to ensure that LGBTQ students are able to learn and grow in a school environment free from bullying and harassment. Together, we can transform our nation’s K-12 schools into the safe and affirming environment all youth deserve.

Anchor Health Initiative

Anchor Health Initiative is a health care provider offering medical services to everyone in the community, with particular expertise in the area of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and Transgender medicine. Anchor Health Initiative offers a welcoming, supportive and safe environment for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) community. For many, simply knowing that allies exist can be a big source of support. There is a notary available in both locations.

The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.
